A report released by Sky News today suggests that Twitter is considering a platform-wide ban on cryptocurrency advertisements. This decision comes shortly after the Facebook ban in January and Google’s move last week to update its Financial Service policy to include a crypto ad ban in June 2018.

According to the report, Twitter plans to implement the ban in two weeks, and will specifically prohibit “advertisements for initial coin offerings (ICOs), token sales, and cryptocurrency wallets globally.”

While there is no confirmation of the ban from Twitter, this decision is not unprecedented as the company has stated in previous weeks that they plan to crack down on cryptocurrency scam accounts.
