The second presale round included 6,192 LAND parcels, 5% of The Sandbox’s virtual world, at a 30% discount to the public LAND price of $48 in ETH. 19 new blockchain games and organizations also joined the metaverse with the second round of the presale, including Maker (MKR) and Opera (OPRA).
“The success of the first two presales of The Sandbox strongly validates our approach to building a gaming metaverse, showing the growing interest from creators and gamers in the benefits of true digital ownership that will allow them to monetize their future creations within an open economy,” said Sebastien Borget, The Sandbox’s co-founder and COO. “We can see without any doubt that users are ready to jump into our vision of the Metaverse.”
The first presale took place in December, with 2.5% of the map (3,096 LANDS) selling out in an impressive 4 hours. That sale featured a 40% discount for participants.
The Sandbox will have five rounds of LAND sales in total, each with decreasing discounts on purchases. Over the course of the multi-round presale, a total of 123,840 LANDS will be sold, which represents 74% of the total metaverse.
“The future of gaming will be real auctions for virtual assets. Players will be able to travel the Metaverse in style with their customizable avatars without restrictions,” added CEO Arthur Madrid.
