Drake Purchases Stake in the 100 Thieves eSports Team

Rap music legend Drake has reportedly purchased a stake in 100 Thieves, a Los Angeles-based lifestyle, apparel and esports company.

According to the announcement, Drake co-led the company’s Series A fundraising round with¬†Scooter Braun, a talent manager and entertainment executive. With the Series A, 100 Thieves has raised more than $25 million to date from notable investors including the¬†Cleveland Cavaliers,¬†Sequoia and¬†Dropbox CEO¬†Drew Houston.

Drake and Braun will now act as strategic advisors for 100 Thieves, while Braun will sit on the company’s board of directors. 100 Thieves was founded by former Call of Duty world champion and YouTube personality Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag.

This investment comes several months after Drake first joined popular streamer Ninja to play Fortnite on Twitch, which broke the record for the most-viewed stream. The Pittsburgh Steeler’s deep threat wideout JuJu Smith-Schuster and rapper Travis Scott also joined the event.

100 Thieves currently competes in League of Legends, Fortnite, Call of Duty and Clash Royale. They recently took first place in the North America League of Legends Championship Series (NALCS) Spring Regular Season and competing at the 2018 World Championships in South Korea.
