According to a recent report by Reuters, the new fintech firm, Libra Networks, was registered in Geneva on May 2 as a subsidiary of Facebook Global Holdings.

Hacked Cryptocurrency Exchange Cryptopia Goes Into Liquidation

Cryptopia, the cryptocurrency exchange hit by a major hack in mid-January, has gone into liquidation and suspended trading operations.

The news was announced Wednesday by Cryptopia’s assigned liquidator, professional services firm Grant Thornton New Zealand. Cryptopia confirmed the news on Twitter, as well as on its website.

Opera (OPRA) Announces Planned TRON (TRX) Support for Its Crypto Wallet

Opera (OPRA), a browser built on the Blink engine and growing competitor of Google Chrome with over 300 million users, announced this week that it has partnered with TRON (TRX) to add native support for the blockchain.

Binance Is Giving Away $1.4 Million in BNB as an Apology

Binance came back online in full this week following a weeks hiatus that extended to both deposits and withdrawals on the platform ‚ÄĒ the result of security maintenance that came in response to a recent hack that resulted in 7,000 bitcoin (BTC) being stolen from the platform‚Äôs hot wallet.

As a show of good faith to the investor community for sticking with Binance through the maintenance period, the exchange’s CEO, Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, recently revealed that Binance will be giving away $1.2 million in Binance Coin (BNB).

Cornell Cryptocurrency Professor Launches Ava Testnet, Challenges Visa

Emin Gun Sirer, one of the world’s leading academic experts on blockchain technology, is launching his own cryptocurrency.

Sirer is the co-director of the Initiative for Cryptocurrencies and Smart Contracts at Cornell University. In addition, Sirer founded Ava Labs Inc., a blockchain group that is currently developing the Ava network and cryptocurrency. In February, the startup reported raising $6 million from a host of big-name investors, including Polychain and Andreessen Horowitz.

Bakkt Sets July Launch Target for Its Bitcoin (BTC) Futures

Intercontinental Exchange’s (ICE) crypto exchange subsidiary,¬†Bakkt, is now aiming to launch its much-anticipated Bitcoin futures product in July.

According to a recent announcement, Bakkt has been working closely with the CFTC to develop futures contracts that both meet their customers’ trading requirements while keeping with current Federal regulations.

Crypto Bull Market? Bitfinex Raises $1 Billion in Just 10 Days

iFinex, the owner of Hong Kong-based cryptocurrency exchange Bitfinex, has reportedly raised the full $1 billion goal for its new exchange token, LEO.

According to a recent tweet by Bitfinex CTO Paolo Ardoino, the company completed the token sale through private investors.

Ardoino notes that private companies and major high net-worth individuals, both inside and outside of the crypto industry, made investments of more than $100 million each. Additionally, an unknown number of other investors made contributions of more than $1 million apiece.

Blockchain Week Ads Suggest eBay (EBAY) Is Preparing to Add Crypto Support

Recently leaked images from Consensus 2019, the major cryptocurrency conference currently taking place in New York City, suggest eBay (EBAY) is preparing to adopt cryptocurrencies.

According to the pictures that have been circulating on social media, eBay has seemingly created an advertising campaign centered around virtual currencies and digital collectibles.
