According to coverage by The Esports Observer, the new partnership brings a multi-year pact that gives Coke exclusivity with all 20 OWL teams, the Overwatch Contenders league, the open division, the Overwatch World Cup, the annual BlizzCon and collegiate events.
While no more details of the arrangement have been released, Brandon Snow, Blizzard Esports’ chief revenue officer, states that Coca-Cola brings an element of legitimacy to the league which will expand its marketing reach.
“When we showed them the data points about how the people who play Overwatch, are also the fans of the esports, what we’re doing at the league level, their perspective became: ‘If we really want to do this the right way, then let’s be a partner of the entire ecosystem,'” said Snow.
This news comes several days after New York Excelsior (NYXL), a New York City-based professional Overwatch esports team and one of 12 founding members of the OWL, signed on T-Mobile (TMUS) as an official sponsor.
