Brave (BAT) Will Now Pay You in Crypto to Browse the Internet

Brave Ad notification for Ternio (Brave)

Brave Software, the company behind the Brave Browser and Basic Attention Token (BAT), revealed Wednesday that users can now opt-in to Brave Ads to receive 70% of the ad revenue as a reward for simply browsing the internet.

According to the announcement, the revenue sharing functionality comes via a new release for macOS, Windows, and Linux. The ads users see do not replace typical web ads but appear as non-obtrusive notifications while users browse the web.

“Since Brave Ads are opt-in, brands know with certainty that when their campaigns run with Brave, their ads are viewed by people who welcome advertising,” states Brave. “Brave’s anonymous-but-accountable campaigns ensure that advertisers are connecting with the users they are seeking, removing the excessive costs, privacy, security, and fraud risks currently associated with middlemen in digital advertising.”

Update (4/25/19): Brave users in the U.S. are not yet able to opt-in to receive revenue from Brave Ads.
