BitTorrent Elected as One of TRON’s Super Representatives
Just weeks after BitTorrent, a peer-to-peer file-sharing network recently acquired by Justin Sun, announced its candidacy to become a TRON Super Representative, the company has officially been elected as one of the 27 different organizations and notable individuals all participating in the project’s governance.
Super Representatives are rewarded for their governance efforts, each receiving 32 TRX per block created by the TRON public blockchain network. Given that the TRX block creation rate is 1 per second, each Super Representative will receive 2,764,800 TRX per day. At current prices, this comes out to around $51,000 per day.
The TRON Foundation recently closed its $120 million acquisition of BitTorrent and plans to integrate elements of the company’s file-sharing protocol into TRON’s development efforts. Together, the two groups plan to combine teams and further build towards their goal of a fully decentralized internet.
In previous statements, TRON emphasized how good of a fit BitTorrent would be as a Super Representative.
BitTorrent is perhaps the most qualified super representative candidate as it runs an extensive infrastructure to support a massive worldwide user base, and its team is comprised of the most experienced in decentralized protocol technology.
