Respawn Introduces Apex Legends’ Most OP Character to Date

Respawn Entertainment dropped the first battle pack this week for Apex Legends, adding the first new character to the game since its launch 6 weeks ago.

The character, Octane, is arguably more powerful than Wraith and Bangalore, largely considered the best characters in the game, due to his speed and ability to regenerate health over time.

Just read how the Respawn team describes this high-speed daredevil:

If it doesn’t involve diving, leaping, plummeting, or racing, then Octane wants nothing to do with it. Always the life of the party, Octane truly believes winning the Championship isn’t enough… not if you didn’t cheat death at least twice to get there.

Here are the full specs for Octane:

Passive Power: Swift Mend
  • While not taking damage, Octane restores 1 health every 2 seconds.
Tactical Power: Stim
  • Move 30% faster for 6 seconds. Costs health to use. While active, Octane is affected less by attacks that cause slowdown. 2-second recharge.
Ultimate Power: Launch Pad
  • Deployable jump pad that catapults players through the air. Takes 90 seconds to recharge.
  • 12,000 Legend Tokens
  • 750 Apex Coins

Having played a number of matches with Octane, I can attest to the benefits of his speed boost. This is especially compounded in the late game when you have a blue or purple shield that totally negates the health loss attributed to the tactical power.

Honestly, I would not be overly surprised if Respawn nerfs Octane in upcoming updates, as the character has completely changed the dynamic of the battlefield, making Wraith look slow and Lifeline unnecessary.
